Impulse Voltage Dividers
Impulse dividers are combined with the Impulse Voltage Generators to test HV apparatus such as Power Transformers, Instrument Transformers, Switchgear, Breakers, HV Cables, etc. Tests are conducted with lightning full or chopped waves, and/or switching impulses. All Haefely impulse dividers meet all requirements of IEC 60060-2 in particular those with respect to measuring accuracy and step response. All dividers are fitted on a mobile base frame.
Damped capacitive dividers have high dynamic behavior and can be used for measurements of full, front, and tail chopped lightning impulses (LI), switching impulses (SI), and AC voltages. The divider can also serve as a base load for the impulse voltage generator.
CS model dividers are ideal for LI up to 1000 kV, SI up to 750 kV, and AC up to 300 kV. CR model dividers are ideal for LI up to 4000 kV, SI up to 3300 kV, and AC up to 1000 kV. All models are designed to achieve an output voltage of 1400 V at rated LI voltage. Upon request the dividers can be supplied with other ratios or with an attenuator to match the input voltage of non-Haefely measuring devices.
Resistive voltage dividers have excellent response parameters and are used for measurements of full and front chopped LI or impulse voltages with steep wave fronts. They are generally used when an additional capacitance in the test circuit is not permissible due to the slowdown effect on the rise time. Therefore it can’t be served as a load capacitor for the impulse generator.
R models can be used for LI up to 2000 kV and the divider ratio is designed to achieve an output voltage of 1400 V at rated LI voltage. Upon request the dividers can be supplied with other ratios or with an attenuator to match the input voltage of non-Haefely measuring devices.
